Our highly trained claim team includes attorneys, nurses, physicians, litigation support and media crisis professionals who work together to vigorously protect the interests of our policyholders. They promptly and thoroughly investigate, evaluate and dispose of a wide variety of general liability and medical professional liability claims.
This team is responsible for internal and external communications, including media relations, annual reports, community relations, brand management, website development, intranet management, content marketing, publications and advertising.
Our finance experts are skilled in accounting, reinsurance, tax, actuarial and financial reporting and analysis functions. They lead and deliver results within a variety of projects, including data warehousing, predictive modeling, company restructures, internal audit evaluations, outsourcing investment accounting, annual audits and accounting and financial systems evaluations and implementations.
This department also includes the Project Management Team. Project Management leads teams through formal project management processes including creation and approval of project charters, selecting and managing project teams, and management of project scope, schedule, costs, risks, resources, quality and customer satisfaction to achieve MMIC’s goals.
Human Resources and Business Support
Our Human Resource professionals leverage compensation, benefits, work-life balance, performance and recognition, career development and training, employee relations and compliance to make UMIA the great workplace that it is. These efforts enable us to attract, motivate and retain top talent.
Our IT professionals manage UMIA’s backbone of computer and telecommunication systems and provide staff with technical support. We rely on this team to find creative and innovative technical solutions to keep UMIA running smoothly and our work moving forward. Trusting the maintenance of ever-changing technology to their capable hands, we can better serve our policyholders without fear of technical mishaps.
Our legal team closely monitors the health care industry and legal environment, ensuring we stay ahead of any emerging trends or changes that may impact our policyholders or our business. In addition to responsibility for corporate legal and compliance issues, they support merger and acquisition efforts.
We offer IT services and products to help health care organizations run smoothly. We provide the highest level of service and support for NextGen electronic health record (EHR) and electronic practice management (EPM) solutions. We also offer HIPAA security and health IT consulting and technical and website products and services.
Patient Safety Solutions
The Patient Safety Solutions team partners with our clients to promote safety and minimize risk to improve patient outcomes and reduce the threat of medical professional liability claims. Services are designed to meet the unique needs of individual clients and include a variety of consultation and education tools.
The team also supports and educates clinicians and their organizations through an innovative and integrated approach to improve the delivery of health care. The team works with clients on many levels from technology optimization to culture-building to decrease the occurrence of adverse events.
Sales and Marketing
The primary focus of the Sales and Marketing team is to establish new business and maintain current policyholders through networking, tradeshow exhibits, meetings and client service visits.
The Underwriting team is responsible for determining the acceptability of insurance risk, rate promulgation for each state, pricing individual new and renewal accounts and developing new insurance products.
